On Rio de Janeiro’s subway, dancers use Passinho to dispel negative stereotypes of Brazil’s favelas

A dance created in the 2000s by young people in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, Passinho has been declared an “intangible cultural heritage” of the state of Rio – bringing recognition to a form of movement and expression born in the city's peripheral communities.
