About the programme
WAIFF brings selected work to Cannes and presents awards across short film, feature film and creative production. Its 2026 programme placed AI cinema inside the Palais des Festivals, with public screenings, industry networking and an awards ceremony led by an international film jury.

Organizer-published criteria · 2026 competition rules
Eligibility
Entries must use at least three generative AI tools, including one for image creation, and include a production file explaining the AI workflow. Category-specific duration rules apply, and non-English films require English subtitles.
Judging criteria
- Overall technical and narrative quality
- Meaningful integration of AI
- Storytelling and emotional impact
- Technical and aesthetic execution
Selection process
Organizers first perform eligibility and technical review. Appointed juries select finalists and score each published criterion from 1 to 10 before designating winners.
